Over the last few years I had heard allot about the Outer Banks (OBX) in North Carolina from coworkers. Even though it sounded like a really nice place to vacation, I didn't think I would get the chance to visit because I have allot of other places higher on my list of places to visit.

A couple of weeks ago I was sent out to North Carolina for work. I had one free day, and luckily I was only about a two hour drive from OBX. So, on my Sunday off I hopped in the rental car and took a drive to the beach. I quickly discovered it was the off-season, everything was boarded up, shops were closed, and I think I was the only person on the beach that day. The blustery cold winds off the Atlantic didn't help either. I made the best of the day by taking a drive down the coast, walking along the beach, visiting a lighthouse, and snapping a few pictures of course.

After spending just a cold day on the beach in the OBX it has definitely moved up on my list of places to visit. My mom mentions from time to time that the family should all take a cruise together, but I am going to tell her that we should all rent a beach house in the OBX for a week instead.

Love the Outer Banks. My family goes every year - I highly recommend Midgett Realty for a rental house and the Rodanthe area in general ( I have a lot of friends there )

I posted a link to my blog in an earlier comment , but if you ever have any OBX questions feel free to drop by and ask!

Beautiful pictures , I might link to your blog in a post later on if you don't mind?

Wow that second photo is beautiful! The lines in the sand, the dunes in the background, the surf, and the clouds in the sky. It looks awesome in black and white! Nice shot!

Great post. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful pictures. The OBX in the winter is pretty quiet, but it's amazing to have the beach to yourself.

I'd definitely recommend coming back when it's warmer. The summer is great, and there's so much energy with all of the visitors, but if you are flexible, my favorite time of year is early fall. The crowds are gone, but the warm summer weather is still here...and surf and fishing are at their peak.

We'd love to help you plan your next OBX trip. Please let us know if we can help.

Have fun!

Right on Ryan great pictures. I've never been to NC. Maybe when the boys are a bit older.

I'm in complete awe over your pictures! You have a unique way of viewing nature and making it more beautiful, just by what angle to shoot from or what lighting to use. I wish I had that talent!

You can't go wrong with OBX! I grew up vacationing there twice a year for fishing. We spent most of our time on Ocracoke Island.

I love, love your pictures!
